CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT (RET) DAVID J. BARTON

Chief Master Sergeant (Ret) David (Dave) J. Barton is the Director, Retirees Activities Office, 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base, Japan. He is responsible for providing assistance and information to approximately four hundred and fifty retirees, dependents and survivors of military retirees in northern Japan (to include the prefectures of Fukushima, Yamagata, Miyagi, Iwate, Akita, Aomori and the northern island of Hokkaido). He is responsible for assisting in casualty affairs, social security, tax preparation, and ensuring survivors of military personnel from all branches of service receive the benefits they are entitled to. He is the editor and publisher for the quarterly Retiree Newsletter that is mailed out to all local retirees and to many Retiree Activities Offices in the Pacific and the CONUS. He also serves as the treasurer for a base private organization, the Misawa Military Retirees Association. He is a life member of the Air Force Association, Air Force Sergeants Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Thailand, Laos, Cambodia Brotherhood.

The chief entered the U.S. Air Force in June 1965. His background includes various duties in civil engineering and aircraft maintenance career fields. In addition to his stateside and overseas assignments, Chief Barton has deployed in support of humanitarian operations in Central America and Southeast Asia.

Chief Barton, originally from Levittown, Pennsylvania, resides in Misawa, Japan with his spouse, Chiyo (Kudo)
