MSgt
(Ret) Joseph J. Roginski is the Director of the Retiree Activities
Office, 35th Fighter Wing, Misawa Air Base. He is responsible for
providing assistance and information to about four hundred and fifty
retirees, dependents and survivors in the six prefectures of Tohoku
(northeast Japan) of Fukushima, Yamagata, Miyagi, Iwate, Akita,
Aomori and the northern island of Hokkaido. He is responsible for
assisting in casuality affairs, social security, tax preparation
and ensuring survivors of miilitary personnel from all branches
of service receive their entitled benefits. He is the editor and
publisher for the quarterly Retiree Activities Office Newsletter
that is mailed to all local retirees and to other retiree Activities
Offices in the Pacific and CONUS.
MSgt Roginski entered the service in February 1965 and after training
at the Defense Language Institute at Indiana University and Military
Intelligence Operations training at Goodfellow AFB. He served in
Samsun, Turkey and Misawa Air Base, Japan as a voice intercept processing
specialist and intelligence analyst. MSgt Roginski also participated
in special deployments, including the USNS Arnold for intelligence
collection against the Soviets in the Arctic Circle, Search and
Rescue Operations in conjunction with the Korean Airlines Flt. 007
shot down by the Soviets over Sakhalin Island and special intelligence
collection operations at various classified locations.
After retirement
from the Air Force in September 1985, MSgt Roginski took a position
as the Misawa Branch manager with the USA Federal Credit Union and
became the Regional Director for Japan until his retirement from
the credit union in December 2009.
With both parents
in the US Army, MSgt Roginski was born at Walter Reed Army Medical
Center in Washington DC. Early childhook ws near Denver, CO and
then Newark, NJ where he enlisted in the Air Force in 1965. He currently
resides in Misawa City, Japan with his spouse Chise (Chiko) Roginski
(near Yanagisawa). |
